For twenty-four years, Beverly Moreau served as Synergy’s School Nurse. “Bev” joined Team Synergy in 1991 after having earned her nursing degree from UCONN and worked for UCONN’s Health Center for ten years. Throughout her time, Bev distinctly remembers Synergy’s annual prom. She began coordinating the event as many students who came to Synergy did not always feel comfortable attending those held at the larger, comprehensive high schools. “Synergy students deserved the opportunity to dress up and enjoy themselves with those they felt most comfortable.”
Learning at Synergy was not solely a student experience. Throughout her time, Bev grew confidence and learned the art of presenting. She encouraged all students to do the same throughout her tenure. She understood that self-advocacy and presentation was a valuable skill set to develop as an individual but as future professionals as well. Similar to many staff members that work at Synergy, Bev assumed many roles; as nurse, as counselor, career navigator, teacher, etc. Roles she was excited to take on!
Bev has since retired and now enjoys her time making jewelry and taking her dog for walks. After serving the students of Synergy for nearly three decades and seeing hundreds of students find success, Bev left the following message for current and future Synergy students, “There is so much you can do. Work hard and good things will come your way. Most of all, believe in yourself. Everyone has special talents. You just need to discover them and use them to your advantage.
